Art Encounters

Art you don’t just look at. Art you enter.

Destination Art Encounters brings site-specific art into extraordinary heritage and luxury properties — spaces rarely open to the public, each holding their own history and character. Each edition is designed as a multi-city journey, spread across at least three destinations over a four-week season in each location.

Curated brands can become part of the experience. Eligible properties can be selected as destinations.

Why We Created This

Connecting people to spaces, and to each other, through art.

DestinationRemarkable spaces — heritage houses, private estates, architectural landmarks — often hold extraordinary stories that few people ever get to experience. Conventional exhibitions rarely do justice to either the space or the work: art hangs on walls while people file past. Something is lost in that transaction.

Building real emotional connection is one of the hardest things a brand can attempt. It is one of the few things advertising cannot manufacture on demand. This experience is designed to do it by feeling, by time, and by presence. A brand’s role is simply to be there when it happens.

Encounters were created to change that. We bring art into spaces that carry memory and let the two speak to each other. Visitors don’t just see the artwork: they discover the space, its history, and what it holds. The result is a meeting between art, architecture, and the people who move through both.

The First Season

The first edition begins in Kyoto.

The first season kicks off in Kyoto, Japan this October 2026 at Le Fushimi, owned and operated by Kokoro Hospitality. It is a four-week run designed to open the city to a slower, more intimate kind of cultural encounter — one that begins with place and ends with memory.

The Encounter Experience

Small groups. One question. A work that evolves.

Each Encounter hosts up to fifteen people at a time. Visitors move through a sequence of rooms, each designed around a specific sensory moment — light, scent, sound, material, stillness. Unlike a typical exhibition where art is observed, here visitors actively participate: what they see, feel, and leave behind becomes part of the living work.

Reflections and traces left by each group — physical or digital — feed into the ongoing research of the Encounter. The work does not conclude. It is shaped, slowly, by everyone who passes through it. When the season ends, the Encounter closes and does not return.

Partner with an Art Experience

For Properties

Your space, as it’s never been seen.

We select a small number of properties each cycle — hotels, heritage houses, resorts and private estates — chosen for the character, history, and quietness of the space. Hosting brings considered, small-group visitors on-site and a body of work that speaks directly to what makes your address singular.

  • Early access to venue selection for upcoming editions and destinations
  • Dedicated visibility for the property within the experience narrative
  • Association with international brands and experiential art
For Brands

Rather be felt than seen.

A small number of contributing partners are folded into each Art Experience — a scent, a taste, a material detail that visitors carry home — co-authored into the experience rather than placed beside it. No booths. No banners. Association with something considered, in a room where every guest is fully present.

We are offering a pilot sponsor rate for the first season, with benefits that are as thoughtful as the program itself: visibility, narrative alignment, and a presence that feels earned rather than imposed.

  • Brand placement woven into the experience world rather than appended to it
  • Curated guest engagement opportunities across the season
  • Access to a limited number of pilot sponsor positions for the first season

A Look Back

Tension

In October 2023, House of VSE staged its first experience inside a private Singapore apartment, exploring vulnerability, identity, and the way people carry one another through difficult spaces.
